La licenza ISC è una licenza di software libero (debole e permissiva) compatibile con la BSD-a 2 clausole e la licenza MIT. Concede la possibilità si usufruire, copiare, modificare e distribuire il programma per qualsiasi scopo, ma esclude garanzie su di esso.
Questa licenza è la licenza di OpenBSD, ma il testo della licenza in questo caso ha subito un piccolo cambiamento. Secondo alcune interpretazioni (smentite dalla ISC stessa) il testo con and/or poteva essere interpretato come un divieto a distribuirne le modifiche. La licenza quindi, fu modificata per rimuovere l'ambiguità del termine "and/or" ("e/o") che conteneva.
